Our new program ‚ the Townsend Summer Boot Camp ‚ is designed to help you decide if a career in vegetation management is right for you.

Position Overview

You’ll spend eight weeks putting your classroom experience to the test, working side-by-side with others that share your love of the outdoors. You’ll learn the basics of our business including:

  • Operating as a member of a tree crew while progressively learning new skills.
  • Learning to perform all aspects of tree removal and pruning, safely and skillfully.
  • How to properly operate/maintain equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, lifts and hand tools.
  • Learning tree identification, industry guidelines and DOT regulations.

Salary

Selected candidates will earn a generous salary AND receive a daily stipend for food, housing and transportation. PPE, gear and equipment will be provided.

Qualifications

  • Studying forestry, energy land management, arboriculture, landscape design or related discipline in a two- or four-year program at an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 2.85 GPA.
  • Driver’s license required; commercial driver’s license a plus.
  • Flexible to relocate within the Townsend Tree footprint for Boot Camp.
  • A willingness to learn and work on a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Eagerness to contribute to a team-oriented environment.
  • Pass all drug and alcohol screens as required by Company policy and, if applicable, required by DOT regulations.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
